A realistic alternative to moving into a nursing or residential home.
'24 hour care', also called 'live-in care' or 'domiciliary care', are terms relating to having a professional 'Live in Carer' living in your/your relative's own home. If you're considering moving into a care home, but would really like to remain in the comfort of your own home, then this could be the perfect alternative for you.
A Live-in (Private) Carer will be only to happy to assist you with a combination of, or all of the following; Housekeeping, laundry, cooking, food shopping, outings, medication reminders, appointments and of course personal care such as bathing, washing & dressing.
Carers are experienced in many conditions and all have professional training. Many have advanced care skills so are able to care for people with all manner of conditions such as MS, Motor Neurone, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Dementia and so many more.
The beauty of Live-in Care is that, unlike in a care home, support is delivered on a one-to-one basis whenever it is needed and as such every day can be different, just as life really is.

Prices start from £1300 per week.
Normally live in carers have a two hour break each day and the carer is free to leave the premises. During this time, Clients can arrange for care to be provided by a friend or family member, or TGEM may be able to provide a second carer to cover the break. This would cost £18 per hour. We are also more than happy to work with other providers should you be able to source the break from another provider.
The biggest advantages of live-in care is that you are able to remain in your own home and you receive one-to-one care from a Carer who is familiar and with you for extended periods of time.
The current cost for residential care is in the region of £800 per week and over £900 per week for nursing care and many homes charge an extra fee (known as a top up). This is dependant on location too but with Live-in care costs starting from £1100 per week this is certainly something to consider.
Many Clients find that they have to sell their homes to fund residential/ nursing home placements as well but with live-in care, this isn't necessary.
Couples Live in Care
In a care home you’re paying for two beds, often two rooms. With live-in care the cost is just for one live-in carer who can often care for both Clients. For a couple then, residential care home prices can be around £1500 - £2,000 per week (based on the average cost in 2018 per person). For a live-in carer for a couple our prices start from just £1,300 per week.
We provide live-in Carers across Northern Ireland to couples and especially for people's parents who want to live together, in their own home, retaining their independence but just in need of a little extra help to do so.
